Scorched City

Balen was once a grand city, full of life. Now, the only life are those of monsters and a few survivors. After being hit with a flare bomb (elemental bombs) 10 years ago, some of Balen's remaining citizens have inherited some... Unique powers. Will the monsters rule the city, or will civilization reclaim what was lost?

Balen consists of 3 districts, Top district, Middle district and Lower district. Some areas in these districts aren't swarming with monsters, and are known as sub-safe zones (SSZ), safe zones (SZ) and untouched zones (UZ). Anywhere else is considered a high risk zone (HRZ) and should be avoided. OCs can start in SZ, UZ or SSZ zones, which one is your choice. However, OCs cannot start in HRZ zones, or undiscovered/unknown zones.

Monster Handbook:
Alpha Zombie (Its midsection, cut it in half and it'll die instantly, deals moderate damage, can infect survivors)
Crof (Most common monster, usually dies in one, hard hit, deals minor damage)
Dredger (Waterbound, dies if it leaves water, deals huge amounts of damage)
Hertol (Moves slowly, deals high damage)
Acolir and Puno (Acolir is the skeletal warrior, Puno is the large monster. No known weaknesses, deals huge amounts of damage)
Kyoris (Moves quickly, but can't dodge, deals moderate damage)
Komorph (Uses one head to let out a loud screech to render it's pray useless, the other head spits small balls of fire at said target, deals moderately high damage. Weak to water and ice based magic)

Rules:
You can add monsters to the handbook.
Don't be excessively OP
Do not kill other OCs without permission
Do not remove the limbs off of another OC without permission
Guns exist, but are scarce and have limited ammo.
Swords and other medieval weapons exist in large amounts
Modern blades (butcher knives, machetes) exist in large amounts
Magic exists (Only fire, ice, water, earth, demon, angel and flight)
Angel magic is strictly healing magic
Angel magic can be enchanted unto bullets to harm Alpha Zombies and Dredgeri for Heaven-Borns only
Angel magic can be enchanted unto bullets to heal an ally from a long distance for Heaven-Borns only
You have ethereal wings appear when healing someone at a close range. Heaven-Borns only.
Demon magic is strictly entropy magic
You can only choose one entropy skill tree to utilize
Entropy can enchant bullets with only one elemental effect (Fire, ice etc.), Hell-Borns only
Flight magic is strictly Elven Half-breed magic
You can have 2 types of magic, exluding demon, angel and flight, which are passive magic depending on your race
The races include Human, Hell-Born(An elf, beastial or human gifted in demon magic), Heaven-Born (an elf, beastial or human gifted in angel magic), Elves and Beastial
Half breeds are allowed. Except Hell-Born and Heaven-Born hybrids
Modern clothing is allowed
Technology is a no no, small objects such as phones and iPods are allowed though.
NPCs can exist in SZ, UZ or SSZ areas. The appearance and name of the NPCs can be made by anybody.
NPCs cannot be killed without creator's permission
Monsters can be controlled by everyone, apart from Acolir and Puno and other monsters that are being controlled by someone else.
Monsters cannot take down the wall around Survivor's Shelter in a few posts.
Newspapers with more information about the Balen Apocalypse appear throughtout Balen the longer your OC survives. These add new monsters to the handbook, and more known areas OCs can travel too.

Survivor's Shelter: Kara (grows crops with water magic), Nick (Surgeon, assists Kiana in nursing people back to suitable health), Toren (Blacksmith, creates medieval weapons with fire magic), Abigail (Survivor), Feo (Small Child, 8 years old) and Letsus (Survivor).
Train Tracks: Mark (A sick drunkard who relies on Frank for his booze)

"I'll be heading out again" Kegyr said, looking out the window.
"Okay, promise to come back nii-san?" Kiana replied, tending the wounds of an unknown person.
"I always do" Kegyr promised, his wings sprouting from his back, "I'll be back before dark"
He jumped out of the window and began to fly towards Middle District, one of the last areas he hadn't searched for survivors.

Ace walked round Middle District, looking for anything that could be of use in this ruined world. His foot kicked something laying on the ground. Picking it up to find it was a lighter. He stuffed it in his pocket and continued walking.

Kegyr, after flying for about an hour, finally made it to Middle District. "I'll probably find more dead people" Kegyr sighed, wandering around aimlessly. .

Ace turned a corner and spotted a figure walking along the road. With his hand on his sword he advanced. With about 5 meters between them he kicked a rock. (dun-dun-dunn)

john was on the lower part of a t section when he hears a rock get kicked he quickly pull's out his 2 pistols run's and slides looking toward's the noise. prepared to shoot at the being he realizes that it was a half human half cat. john stands up look's to his right to see a human with wing's.quickly he point's one gun at each of them"i am not your enemy so stay there and we won't have any problem's and we can make sure that we don't have to become enemy's".

"Huh? Who the hell are you?" Ace asked.

"Ace." he says with his hand on his sword.

john walk's over to ace carefully making sure to keep his gun aimed at the other person "sorry about that but have almost died to many time's from being trusting"

It's been middle of the day when Frank finally decided to get out of the abandoned wagon. He put on his old tophat, dusted his trenchcoat and opened his cigar case.
"Damn... out again." he muttered as he was closing the case. "Well I guess it's time to get to work. Those corpses will not just loot themselves. So which area should I check out to-", but his habit of talking to himself got interrupted by sudden sound of heavy footsteps.

"FRANK! Hey *cough* Frank! I know you *cough* are here!" an old grumpy voice echoed around the area. It was fairly obvious the person calling out is in need of immediate medical attention. "Frank! *cough* Come out, we need to.. *cough* ..talk!"

"Alright alright Mark. Just keep the racket down I don't wanna go deaf." Frank crawled out of his contemporary living place. It's been poorly decorated and didn't offer much protection. But it's been habitable. As soon as he came out the old man started shuffling towards him.
"Don't come near me you walking bacteria.. don't wanna catch whatever the hell's wrong with you. So what'll it be today? More of the usual?" Frank looked at the man with a smirk on his face and started opening his leather suitcase. "Ya remember the deal right Mark? So what's yer offer today?" Frank said as he started taking out the bottle of fine wine. As soon he noticed the bottle the old man's eyes showed a new sign of life in them.
"I've gutten this pocket watch.. it 'nough?" the old man asked while pulling a shiny object out of his pocket. It's been an old Soviet Chaika.
"Hmm.. a fancy lil' thing you got there... where did you find that gem?"
"Duwn the ol' middle district... 'tis been.. *cough* eh... lyin' 'round..."
"So middle district eh? Was there.. more stuff lying around? You know, shiny things, coins or anything else? Also I'll take it.. here enjoy your booze.. No wait.. put it down here. There's no way I'm risking taking it from you, you walking time bomb."
"Ahaha... thanks mate, I knew I coulda count on ya. Ever since the Doc's.. *cough* ..died and Carl's been taken in to the damned shelter by that scum yer the only company I got left 'round 'ere. Well apart from those wannabe 'eroes... can't they see the world's.. eh.. doomed? The only way to make it..." Mark has finally managed to opened the bottle and took a long sip before continuing, "is eh.. by guttin' drunk. But you understand mate.. so what do ya say? How 'bout we go into that apartment of yers and 'ave a drink or two?"
"As much as I enjoy your company I'm afraid I'll have to pass on that offer. You have brought me some interesting and crucial information and it's imperative I go and investigate. So enjoy your alcohol and remember.. there's always more where it came from."
"Whatever ya say mate... heh.. I'll just go.. eh... sit *cough* sumewhere heh... 'n' drink like there's no tomorrow. See ya Frank. Yer the man, the best friend 'round."

Frank's waited for the old man to leave. Then he took out a handkerchief, picket up the old watch and put it into his suitcase.
"Well I guess that answers the question from this morning... time to visit the middle district. A somewhat dangerous trade, but if there's more trinkets like this then it's more than worth it. Heh, stupid old fool doesn't know what he just gave away. Hahahahaha..."

With the visions of great fortune Frank's made his move towards the middle district.

(Backish, maybe. Working my net overtime so I might still poof for a while yet)
"Kegyr." He answered, wings ready to fly at moments notice, "I suggest moving the gun away." His fingertips began to produce a white mist.

david put's on a pair of night vision goggle's and holster's his gun "glad to meet you so you know a good place to lay low"

"I don't exactly lay low" Kegyr responded, the mist dissipating from his fingers, "I protect and help the people at the shelter as best I can, I usually leave every 3 days to look for more survivors to bring in. It's been uneventful until now"

Kiana could feel a stir in the air, she remembered the stir from somewhere, but couldn't recall where. "I don't like this" She sighed, "Get back here soon Keg"

"well that's better then nothing can you show the way"david puts his night vision goggle's away and offer's his hand for a handshake

Kegyr shifted uncomfortably as he accepted the handshake, "It's in Top District, behind the Chapel. My sister should greet you at the gates. Unless you want to travel with me while I look for more survivors." Kegyr babbled, "If you do decide to go, tell her "The crow shall fly at dusk" and she should allow you in"

"nah i'll come with you see if i can help any"

"And you, cat-boy? You wanna come along?" Kegyr teased, obviously trying not to offend but offend at the same time.

Kiana flicked her head up, realising that the air was more heated and foul than usual,"No... No!" She screamed realising what was coming, she flew to the middle of the shelter, "Everybody!" She called out, waiting for the survivors to gather, "You all need to get underground. Kara, make sure the sick and wounded are safely underground as well!" She yelled out, people had already started to run towards the door that led underground.
"And of you Kiana?" Kara called out, already running towards the tower that housed the sick, "I'm going to find Keg, only he can stop... them"
Kiana shivered slightly before flying as fast as she could towards Middle District.

“Sure I’ll Tag along, but don’t call me Cat-boy.” Ace responded.

"Aww... It makes me want to call you cat-boy more though..." Kegyr faked a sigh of disappointment, "In any case, we should move on. Who knows what we'll find?"

Kiana continued to fly, she passed over the chapel, thinking of how humans continued worshipping a God that had abandoned them. She passed over the old gates that allowed access from Top District to Middle District, before landing at the front of an old café, "He'll be around here somewhere..." she muttered.

"So where to?" Ace asked, looking around.

"We should-" Kegyr was cut off.
"Nii-san!" Kiana yelled, running towards Kegyr, "I need you back at the sanctuary, and anyone you can bring along. It's... It's fire and rot. They're approaching!"
Kegyr just stared at Kiana shocked he knew she wasn't lying because she hardly leaves the shelter for anything.
